Skin Problems

Research has shown that with all skin conditions, stress can be an underlying factor which contributes towards the severity of the problem, especially eczema and psoriasis.

Hypnotherapy can be a pleasant and relaxing experience that can significantly reduce stress levels, in turn reducing cortisol, which triggers symptoms.

In the instance of eczema, it has been shown from a young age, if a child develops a negative self image it only maintains the issue, this is why it is important to learn to love and approve of yourself.  It has been shown that due to normal maturation, the condition may lessen if those feelings were not held onto.

Hypnotherapy has been used to help relieve the itching of eczema.

We can use hypnotherapy to also stop habits such as scratching, which would only aggravate and prolong the discomfort.

Hypnotherapy has also been used to help deal with and overcome allergic reactions upon the skin.

 

 

 

How our programmes are delivered

A specific plan is tailored to each person by one of our therapists to help them achieve their goals and to prepare for any issues along the way.

We easily identify any issues by using evidence based procedures to help assess and build a strategic plan for success.  Case formulation (understanding of issues) is a very important part of any successful therapy.  “A problem well defined is a problem halved”.

We focus on three main aspects that are required by any therapist,

  • Bond of trust between therapist and client;
  • Agreement on therapy goals;
  • Agreement on therapy tasks (Bordin, 1979).

The initial session will start with an introduction to dispel any concerns/misconceptions that you have about hypnotherapy.

Relevant questions will be asked so that we can get a better understanding of what your main issue is, and if there are any other contributing stresses.

If there any obstacles that come in the way of you achieving your goals, we will work together to design a flexible plan to prepare for any setbacks so you can stay on track.
